On Wednesday, September 14, Professor Jianguo Sun from the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Missouri will be speaking on graduate study in Biostatistics at the University of Missouri, as well as on the specific types of research they do there. The talk will be at 3:30 in VH1236. Refreshments will be provided!
Miguel Fernandez, a Mathematics and Physics major, received the Mathematical Association of America’s Outstanding Presentation Award at the national MathFest meeting in Lexington, KY in August for his talk “Geometry of Surfaces with Density”. The talk resulted from work he did this summer at Williams College in Williamstown, MA.
MASSE will be having a meeting on Sunday, 9/11 at 6:00 in VH 1212. All pre-MAE and MAE students should try to attend. We will introduce this club and the plans for the semester as well as share important information about the upcoming NCTM conference. There will be pizza!!!
The 72nd William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition will take place Saturday, December 3, 2011. This problem solving competition is open to undergraduates (and high school students with some stipulations) from colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
