AAHE CASE STUDY TEAM PLACES THIRD AT NATIONAL CONVENTION

AAHE Case Study Winners April 2013The Truman team competing in the 2013 AAHE Case Study Competition placed third in national competition on Friday, April 26, 2013 in Charlotte, NC at the AAHPERD National Convention.  In the picture on the left, it shows (Left to right) Justin Ryckman, McKenzie Tate, and Vanessa Shaw receiving their award from Dr. Caile Spear, American Association of Health Education (AAHE) President.  The picture on the right shows them with the poster they used as part of their presentation on the problem of Alzheimer’s Disease in Mecklenburg County, NC.  They were judged on their ability to utilize the Seven Areas of Responsibility for Certified Health Education Specialists (assess, plan, implement, evaluate, evaluate, administer, serve as a resource, and communicate and advocate for health education) to deal with the Alzheimer’s Disease.  Dr. Janice Clark is the sponsor for the group.  Additionally, Justin, McKenzie, Vanessa, and Emma Hosman assisted Dr. Clark in her presentation, “Is Your AAHE Case Study Winners with Poster-April, 2013Health Curriculum CHES-Aligned?”

These students applied for the positions on the case study team.  Emma Hosman was the alternate member.  To finance the trip, they applied for grant funding from MO-PIP, the Student Senate, and the Student Public Health Association.
