{"id":2094,"date":"2026-04-24T13:33:06","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T18:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/presoffice\/?p=2094"},"modified":"2026-04-24T13:40:59","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T18:40:59","slug":"missouri-budget-update-senate-approves-return-to-governors-recommendation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/presoffice\/2026\/04\/24\/missouri-budget-update-senate-approves-return-to-governors-recommendation\/","title":{"rendered":"Missouri Budget Update:  Senate Approves Return to Governor\u2019s Recommendation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Truman Community:<\/p>\n<p>I am happy to report that the Missouri Senate approved the recommendation of the Senate Appropriations Committee to reverse the FTE funding formula approach in the House budget and return to the Governor\u2019s recommendation of flat funding across all public higher education institutions.\u00a0 I am enormously appreciative of the support Senators O\u2019Laughlin and Nurrenbern expressed for Truman on the Senate floor during discussion of the budget bill.<\/p>\n<p>The next step in the process will be a conference with selected members of the House and Senate negotiating the difference between their versions of higher education funding.\u00a0 It is important to note that the conference does not just split the difference between the two plans.\u00a0 For example, last year, the Governor recommended a 1.5% increase in core appropriations for higher education; the House budget provided a 0% increase; the Senate budget provided a 3% increase; and a 3% increase emerged from the conference committee.\u00a0 The Legislature must submit its budget to the Governor by May 8.\u00a0 We are now targeting our efforts on the conference committee supporting the Senate\u2019s position of flat funding.\u00a0 I will continue to keep you updated.<\/p>\n<p>The finish line is coming for not only the budget process, but also for the semester.\u00a0 Keep up your great work and be sure to take time to celebrate each other and everything you have accomplished this year!<\/p>\n<p>All the best,<br \/>\nSue<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Truman Community: I am happy to report that the Missouri Senate approved the recommendation of the Senate Appropriations Committee to reverse the FTE funding formula approach in the House budget and return to the Governor\u2019s recommendation of flat funding across all public higher education institutions.\u00a0 I am enormously appreciative of the support Senators O\u2019Laughlin [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":711,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2094","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
