The event will be capped by a talk by Dr. Dereck Daschke, Department Chair, called “2012, the Hunger Games, and Other Apocalypses.”\u00a0 He will discuss the persistence of apocalyptic belief in cultures and explore the popular and entertainment sides of it through the success of the books and films in the Hunger Games series and the excitement over doomsday date-setting, as in the Mayan 2012 “prediction.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
