{"id":599,"date":"2022-09-02T14:31:52","date_gmt":"2022-09-02T19:31:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/news\/?p=599"},"modified":"2022-09-06T14:51:12","modified_gmt":"2022-09-06T19:51:12","slug":"labor-day-break-message","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/news\/2022\/09\/02\/labor-day-break-message\/","title":{"rendered":"PRESIDENT\u2019S OFFICE\/EMAIL TO STUDENTS:  Labor Day Break Message"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Greetings Bulldogs!<\/p>\n<p>Our first two weeks together have already brought many memorable moments, and I hope you have countless more throughout the year!<\/p>\n<p>As we approach the first break of the fall, now is a good time to remember what I shared before the start of our new academic year. \u00a0While we are to the point where COVID-19 is no longer defining every aspect of our lives, it is still very much present and we need to be mindful of its ramifications. \u00a0While we may never be able to eradicate the virus, we can take steps to minimize its effects.<\/p>\n<p>There is no mask requirement on campus; however, individuals may choose to wear one at any time. \u00a0Everyone is also encouraged to be current on their vaccinations and test if they are symptomatic or have reason to believe they may be infected. \u00a0Anyone traveling during the long weekend should consider testing before returning to campus.<\/p>\n<p>Truman will continue to provide COVID-19 information and resources:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Possible exposure \u2013 If you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/your-health\/isolation.html?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fyour-health%2Fquarantine-isolation.html\">follow this CDC guidance<\/a>. \u00a0Residence Life has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.truman.edu\/residence-life\/resident-information\/covid-19-updates\/\">protocols in place for those who need to isolate<\/a>. \u00a0Any student needing to isolate themselves should contact their instructors to make arrangements for their coursework.<\/li>\n<li>Testing \u2013 The Student Health Center has a very limited number of free at-home tests still available and will continue to conduct COVID-19 tests. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.covid.gov\/tests\">The federal government\u2019s free at-home test program<\/a> has been suspended due to funding, but many area providers have testing available.<\/li>\n<li>Information updates \u2013 Any COVID-related messaging will be emailed directly to campus and shared on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.truman.edu\/coronavirus\/\">edu\/coronavirus<\/a>.\u00a0 Adair County information can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/adair.lphamo.org\/2019-novel-coronavirus-update\/\">here<\/a> and CDC Community Level information can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/your-health\/covid-by-county.html\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are a community that cares for one another. \u00a0Let\u2019s continue to consider our actions in the context of our fellow Bulldogs and work together to have a healthy and happy school year.<\/p>\n<p>Be safe and enjoy your break!<\/p>\n<p>Susan L.
