Professor Laura Fielden from Truman’s Biology Department will be conducting an informational session and mathematical biology colloquium on the Professional Science Masters program in Bioinformatics that Truman will begin offering in Fall 2012. The session will be held in VH1224 on Thursday, October 6 at 3:30 p.m.

MAA will be holding a silent auction for an afghan hand made and donated by Nancy Bissey. The afghan will be displayed with a bid sheet in the Mathematics/Computer Science office throughout the week from 9/25 through 9/30. Money raised will help fund MAA’s biannual poker tournament which is open to all students.
Students interested in taking the Putnam exam this year must register no later than 4 pm Thursday, October 6. The exam will take place Saturday, December 3, from 9 am till 5 pm (with a 2 hour break). If interested, contact Professor Michael Adams, VH2148, no later than the registration deadline.
KME will be hosting Minute to Win It games this Saturday, September 24 in Upper VH (in the common area) at 2:00pm. This will be a fun way to get to know other math and computer science students.
There will be a panel presentation tonight, September 20, at 7pm in VH 1236 on REU and internship opportunities for mathematics and computer science majors. The presentation should last for about an hour. This event is sponsored by the SMACS scholarship program through the National Science Foundation, but all students are welcome to attend.
