Do you want to meet others who enjoy math? If so, join MAA (Mathematical Association of America). Our activities throughout the semester include: poker tournaments, Pi Day celebration, Smash Bros. tournaments, math games, problem(s) of the fortnight, and help with course registration. Our next meeting is Wednesday, September 26th at 5:30 in VH 1200.

Everyone still in Kirksville is invited to celebrate the start of summer by playing soccer against the physics department this Friday. The game will go from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and will take place at the YMCA. Last year, physics beat us 3-0, so this is our chance to get even.

Check out Isoperimetric Pentagonal Tilings, an article co-authored by senior Miguel Fernandez appearing in this month’s Notices of the American Mathematical Society. The paper is based on research conducted during last summer’s “Small” REU at Williams College.
