{"id":675,"date":"2021-03-15T10:38:30","date_gmt":"2021-03-15T15:38:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/history\/?p=675"},"modified":"2021-03-15T10:38:30","modified_gmt":"2021-03-15T15:38:30","slug":"truman-students-present-papers-at-missouri-conference-on-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/history\/2021\/03\/15\/truman-students-present-papers-at-missouri-conference-on-history\/","title":{"rendered":"TRUMAN STUDENTS PRESENT PAPERS AT MISSOURI CONFERENCE ON HISTORY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students <strong>Shannon Fetzner (BA History)<\/strong>, <strong>Nick Pruett (BA History)<\/strong>, and<strong> Alexandra Miller (BA History)<\/strong> represented Truman at the Missouri Conference on History on March 11, 2021, by participating in a <strong>panel entitled <span style=\"color: #800080\">\u201cRegulating Class, Race and Ethnicity in Early Twentieth-Century America.\u201d<\/span><\/strong> Due to the pandemic, the conference took place online this year. The panel was chaired by <strong>Dr. Jason McDonald<\/strong>, Department of History. The presentation<span style=\"color: #000000\">s delivered by Fetzner\u2014\u201cPauperized and Degenerated: Eugenicists\u2019 Perceptions of Native Americans in the Early Twentieth Century\u201d\u2014and Pruett\u2014\u201c\u2018Gentlemen with Few Peers\u2019: Harry Laughlin\u2019s Working Relationships with Select Eugenics Movement Leaders\u201d\u2014were both based on projects first started on a history course with Dr. McDonald in fall 2019. In summer 2020, Pruett completed the research for his paper thanks to support from the Office of Student Research\u2019s Grants-in-Aid of Scholarship and Research program.
