Sport Management Students Learn from Local Professionals

     The ES 506 Advanced Sport Management class hosted a breakfast and panel on January 28^th of local sport and recreation management professionals.  The panel included Sarah Riffer, Executive Director of the Adair County YMCA, Melanie Smith, Assistant City Manager and supervisor of Kirksville Parks and Recreation, Dan Martin, Wellness Director at the Thompson Campus Center-ATSU and Coach Nesbitt, Head Truman Football Coach.  The panel provided advice and insight for the students on a wide range of topics including resumes, cover letters, interview dress codes, customer service training, internships, grad schools, and the hiring process.

The students in ES 506 will also be working with the Kirksville Parks and Recreation Department this semester to plan events for local children including a frisbee golf workshop and tournament, family fishing and the annual Hershey’s Track and Field meet.
