In this chapter, Dr. Davis examines how nineteenth-century Spanish author Leopoldo Alas (\u201cClar\u00edn\u201d) achieves a metafictional commentary on the death of high art through various framing techniques that turn the eponymous protagonist Berta into a work of art.
