Annual Summer Study Abroad in Salamanca Preparations Underway
February 5, 2019Continuing one of Truman’s most enduring and successful study abroad programs, the participants for 2019 have begun to prepare for 8 weeks of study and travel in Spain this summer. Spanish majors and minors on this program will visit important sites across multiple regions of a diverse country. On this year’s itinerary are cities like the vibrant capital of Spain, Madrid, to smaller, equally historically important cities like Toledo, León, Astorga, Ávila, and Segovia, where a Roman aqueduct still stands in the heart of this Castilian city. We will also see key sites in the south of Spain where Arabic influence was strongest, including Sevilla, Córdoba, and Granada and its Alhambra palace. While in Salamanca for their classes, students will live with host families and get to experience firsthand life in Spain’s oldest university town. Led by Truman faculty Dr. Stacy Bryant and Prof. James Hammerstrand, students will take classes in language, conversation, culture and more, earning 12 credits on an unforgettable study abroad trip of a lifetime.
