Hailey Alvis awarded $3500 for Student Research

Congratulations to Hailey Alvis (BA Spanish ’23, Spanish MAE ’24) who was just awarded $3500 from the Office of Student Research to fund her Summer 2023 TruScholars project, “Revamping L2 Assessment Practices.” In collaboration with her mentor, Dr. Stacy Davis, Hailey will examine the benefits of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) regarding innovative ways to revamp traditional testing methods in the Spanish classroom by incorporating UDL principles. Upon the conclusion of her project, Hailey will present her research findings at the TruScholars forum in August and then lead a professional development workshop for the Spanish faculty in the Fall of 2023. She also plans to present at Truman’s Undergraduate Student Research Conference in the Spring of 2024.
