ESL Workshop

This past Saturday United Speakers, a student volunteer organization that serves the English as a Second Language community in Kirksville and the Northeast Missouri region, hosted a teaching workshop led by Dr. Stacy Davis. The workshop focused on lesson planning for ESL students and gave students advice and ideas for creating their own lesson plans. Students learned how to provide extra-linguistic support as well as ways to encourage production from their students and many other essential skills for ESL teaching. Around fifteen students form United Speakers participated in this workshop. The skills learned will help the members of the organization in their mission of assisting the Spanish-speaking and French-speaking populations in the Kirksville area to learn English.
