{"id":649,"date":"2015-11-16T08:17:12","date_gmt":"2015-11-16T08:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/?p=649"},"modified":"2015-11-10T22:45:14","modified_gmt":"2015-11-10T22:45:14","slug":"faculty-support-undergraduate-research-nationally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/2015\/11\/16\/faculty-support-undergraduate-research-nationally\/","title":{"rendered":"Faculty Support Undergraduate Research Nationally"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Truman State University sends over twenty students a year to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cur.org\/conferences_and_events\/student_events\/ncur\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Conference of Undergraduate Research<\/a> (NCUR,) a group that usually includes at least a couple of Art majors.\u00a0 The Art faculty are also very involved with NCUR&#8217;s parent organization, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cur.org\" target=\"_blank\">Council on Undergraduate Research<\/a>, helping to spread the knowledge of the importance of undergraduate research and creative activity to students&#8217; growth as thinkers, scholars, and contributing members of society in a wide variety of ways.<\/p>\n<p>Three members of the faculty serve as councilors in the Division of Arts and Humanities.\u00a0 Dr. Sara Orel is finishing up her term as chair of the Division and member of the Executive Board of the organization.\u00a0 Dr. Julia DeLancey is an active member of the International Committee, which is working to set up the first international congress focusing on undergraduate research in Qatar in the next few years.\u00a0 Professor Wynne Wilbur\u00a0has just returned from\u00a0an institute dedicated to<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cur.org\/events\/creative_inquiry_in_the_arts_and_humanities_institute_-_greensboro_nc\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Creative Inquiry in the Arts and Humanities<\/a>\u00a0in Greensboro, NC.\u00a0 This past summer all three attended the national business meeting in Norman, OK, along with several other Truman State faculty.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_650\" style=\"width: 3237px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2015\/11\/IMG_4662-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-650\" class=\"wp-image-650 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2015\/11\/IMG_4662-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3227\" height=\"2419\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2015\/11\/IMG_4662-2.jpg 3227w, https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2015\/11\/IMG_4662-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2015\/11\/IMG_4662-2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2015\/11\/IMG_4662-2-1380x1034.jpg 1380w, https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2015\/11\/IMG_4662-2-900x675.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 3227px) 100vw, 3227px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-650\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Although the CUR business meeting was very busy, there was an opportunity to take a short break.
