{"id":548,"date":"2015-05-29T19:12:49","date_gmt":"2015-05-29T19:12:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/?p=548"},"modified":"2015-06-15T16:20:34","modified_gmt":"2015-06-15T16:20:34","slug":"summer-activities-in-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/2015\/05\/29\/summer-activities-in-art\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer activities in Art!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Summer has arrived\u00a0in Kirksville and the students, faculty, and staff in the Art Department will be taking full advantage of it. \u00a0Here are a few notes about what we&#8217;ve heard about from some faculty and students about summer plans:<\/p>\n<p><em>Faculty<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><strong>Dr. Sara Orel (Art History)<\/strong> writes: \u00a0&#8220;I will be working on two long-simmering Egyptological projects: the publication of the Gebel el-Haridi survey from the 1990s, and the re-examination of the excavations by John Garstang at Beni Hasan more than a century ago.\u00a0 In addition, I am attending the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) business meeting, and beginning my third year as chair of the Arts and Humanities Division of CUR.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><strong>Prof. Ping Xu (Visual Communications)<\/strong> will take five Visual Communications\u00a0students to China for internships at TBWA Worldwide and McCann Workgroup Shanghai.<\/p>\n<p><em>Students<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">Vis Comm students <strong>Will Genazzi<\/strong>, <strong>Nick Hollander<\/strong>, <strong>Olivia Brady<\/strong>, <strong>Lauren Jin<\/strong>, and <strong>Conner Frazier<\/strong> will join Prof. Xu&#8217;s study abroad trip.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><strong>Katie Feldkamp <\/strong>(Art History-History double major) writes: \u00a0&#8220;This summer I will be interning at the National WWI Museum in Kansas City.
