There is lots going on in the University Art Gallery this week!<\/p>\n

Thursday, January 16, 9:15 a.m., OP 1114 (main gallery)
<\/strong><\/p>\n

Artist <\/strong>Jill Waterhouse<\/strong><\/a> will be talking in the gallery about the sculpture\/installation piece which she is installing for the upcoming gallery exhibition entitled "Apocalyptic: artwork, poetry, and thought about the end". She is visting campus from the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.  If you can't make Thursday's talk, there will a repeat of that talk on Friday at 11:30 a.m., also in the Gallery.<\/p>\n

Thursday, January 16, 4:30 p.m., OP 1114 (side gallery)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Closing reception<\/strong> for the "Strong Foundations" exhibition.  Blog readers may remember that this show features work made by students in the Art Studio Foundations program (generally first-year students).  Faculty have selected some of the best work from this year's Proficiency portfolios to be featured in the Gallery.  As Gallery Director Aaron Fine says:  "Let's all take a good long look at this final sample of work from the foundations program. Free food of course and maybe a door prize too!"<\/p>\n

Please note also that the the upcoming exhibition, Apocalyptic: artwork, poetry, and thought about the end<\/em><\/strong>, curated by Prof. Aaron Fine (University Art Gallery Director and Professor of Art) and Dr. Bob Mielke (Professor of English) will open on Wednesday, January 22.  Prof. Fine reports that new work is arriving daily which is very exciting!  The opening reception for that show, as well as "Lori Nix:  Apocalyptic", a solo show of work by Truman alumna Lori Nix<\/a>, will be held on Tuesday, January 28 at 6:00 p.m.  As always, Gallery events are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n
