{"id":1197,"date":"2017-06-19T21:39:11","date_gmt":"2017-06-19T21:39:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/?p=1197"},"modified":"2017-06-19T21:39:11","modified_gmt":"2017-06-19T21:39:11","slug":"photography-professor-priya-kambli-exhibits-in-jaipur-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/2017\/06\/19\/photography-professor-priya-kambli-exhibits-in-jaipur-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Photography Professor Priya Kambli exhibits in Jaipur, India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Professor Priya Kambli&#8217;s photographs were displayed at the JaipurPhoto show in late February\/early March.\u00a0\u00a0JaipurPhoto is an international open-air travel photography festival held every February in the Pink City.<\/p>\n<p>For the 2017 edition, JaipurPhoto\u2019s Artistic Director, Lola Mac Dougall, invited Federica Chiocchetti, Founding Director of the photo-literary platform Photocaptionist, to be the Guest Curator and respond to the theme of wanderlust. As a Westerner, who works on the relationship between photography and fictions, images and words, and who had to \u2018imagine\u2019 and \u2018study\u2019 Jaipur and India from far away, Chiocchetti felt inclined to search for photographic works that subtly connected the notions of travel with ideas of the imaginary and the unexpected.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2017\/06\/2.-jaipur_photo_22.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1198\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2017\/06\/2.-jaipur_photo_22-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"454\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2017\/06\/2.-jaipur_photo_22-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2017\/06\/2.-jaipur_photo_22-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2017\/06\/2.-jaipur_photo_22-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2017\/06\/2.-jaipur_photo_22.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/a>Professor Kambli&#8217;s work on display in Jaipur.\u00a0 These are from her series &#8220;Kitchen Gods,&#8221; which takes inspiration from\u00a0her own\u00a0family&#8217;s photographs from India.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2017\/06\/Priya-jaipur_photo_16.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1202\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2017\/06\/Priya-jaipur_photo_16-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"454\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2017\/06\/Priya-jaipur_photo_16-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2017\/06\/Priya-jaipur_photo_16-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2017\/06\/Priya-jaipur_photo_16-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.truman.edu\/art\/files\/2017\/06\/Priya-jaipur_photo_16.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As the festival writeup proclaimed: &#8220;In this unique family pantheon, Kambli labours to afford her ancestors the same treatment as given to kitchen deities.
