Emily: Gaining Experience in the Legal Field

August 5, 2019

Emily - Justice Systems Major InternshipAs an intern for the Presiding 10th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Rachel Bringer Shepherd, I gained first-hand experience in the legal field and made countless connections with lawyers and judges throughout Northeast Missouri.

I was able to help out with the local Guardian ad Litem training, attended a Federal Bar Seminar, looked into a post-conviction relief case, and observed numerous different court proceedings.

It was extremely rewarding to be able to see the information and skills that I have learned in the classroom being put to use in the real world. It has made me even more confident that the education that I am receiving at Truman is setting me up to succeed in the future.
