Psychology Majors are McNair Scholars

Psychology major, Roberto Renteria, one of six students, represented Truman’s Ronald E. McNair Program at the Annual McNair Scholars Research Conference Sept. 11-13 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore Country.

The scholars gave public presentations based upon their projects conducted this past summer.  Roberto presented “Do Anger and Aggression Mediate Relations between Depression and Impairment?” (Dr. Jeffrey Vittengl, Mentor)

Psychology major, Hannah Rogers, one of four students, graduated this past May of 2015 as one of 37 valedictorians.  Hannah is pursuing a PhD in the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program at the University of Missouri with a funding package worth over $147,000. (Dr. Robert Tigner, Mentor)

The McNair Program provides support for students interested in obtaining a Ph.D. who are income eligible, first-generation college students of any background or who are from underrepresented groups. McNair has been at Truman since 1992.
