Thank You and Report from Consultant VisitSeptember 1, 2016
Dear Campus Community:
The Presidential Search Committee extends their appreciation to everyone who participated in the constituent meetings with the consultants from R. William Funk and Associates on August 30–31. The Board of Governors and the Search Committee have expressed a strong desire for wide constituent involvement in this phase of the search process, and they were pleased by the involvement of the campus community during the consultant’s two-day visit to campus.
During their time on campus, Bill Funk and Willie Funk held sessions with the President’s Administrative Council, Deans and Associate Provosts, faculty governance, Staff Council representatives, local community leaders, Foundation and Alumni Board members, faculty/staff, and students. The consultants solicited input about the challenges and opportunities that the next president will inherit, the qualities and qualifications desired of the next president, and the unique or special characteristics of Truman and the community that would encourage individuals to apply. The constituent input will be distilled and serve as the basis for the opportunity description, position qualifications and characteristics that will be included in the Leadership Statement.
In addition to the sessions above, the Presidential Search Committee met with the consultants to review the search process and finalize a committee timeline. The next step for the members of the Board of Governors will be to determine the manner in which a Stakeholder Committee will be established. This Stakeholder Committee will be drawn from multiple University constituencies such as, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members, and information regarding the process to establish this committee will be shared with campus later this fall.
You may continue to provide your input to the consultants by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or speaking directly to a Presidential Search Committee member. Committee membership and updates about the search may be found at: http://www.truman.edu/presidential-search/. We welcome your continued input and encourage you to nominate individuals that you believe to be qualified for the President position at Truman.
