Himalayan Night 2016: The Video

Himalayan Night: The annual celebration of Nepali culture at Truman State University. Namaste Nepal, Truman’s only club dedicated exclusively to Nepali students and those interested in Nepali culture, hosts Himalayan Night each year with the purpose of sharing a piece of their home country with the Kirksville community. This year’s celebration was no different.

The theme of the evening was diversity in Nepal. Throughout the night, speakers shared facts with the audience about the cultural, ethnic, and regional diversity present in their country. Audience members who paid attention and answered trivia questions correctly were rewarded with prizes!

One of the main reasons to attend Himalayan Night is the live performances done by members of Namaste Nepal. Students performed original and traditional Nepali music, wore a wide variety of outfits, and danced for the whole audience to enjoy. After the festivities, the walls were pulled back to reveal a banquet of Nepali food, cooked by the group members themselves. Watch the video above to see the evening’s events for yourself!
