MAE Film Series

April 6, 2016

Join the Truman State University Education Department this Thursday, April 7, from 7 to 9 pm in the Baldwin Hall Litgopublicpictle Theater for the Spring 2016 MAE Film Series. The movie, GO PUBLIC: A Day in the Life of an American School District, will be shown, followed by a discussion. GO PUBLIC is a documentary that presents one whole day at Pasadena Unified School District through a variety of perspectives. This film will provide a view into the privilege and right of public education, and it will demonstrate the complexity of serving a myriad of students with different needs. GO PUBLIC focuses on the supposedly broken public school system, and  emphasizes that although there is room for growth there are innumerable good things that happen everyday. By focusing on the stories of individual faculty, teachers, and students, GO PUBLIC tells the story of the Pasadena Unified School District with hopes to encourage viewers to become more informed and compassionate for their own community’s public schools.
