Truman Communication professor to author publication on Christianity restoration

April 16, 2019

Barry C. Poyner, Ph.D., professor of Communication, will have a book released in July 2019, “Aim for Restoration,” from 21st Century Christian Publishing Co, Nashville, TN.  “Aim for Restoration” is part of its FLEX adult curriculum offerings.

From the introduction:
The author desires to capture the heart and thrill of restoration and not to put forward a history.  I contend that the early Christians thought of a variety of things needing restored before they turned to the notion of a restored “kingdom.”  Even more remote would be the notion of restoring the newly established spiritual kingdom, the church.

Along the way, I also hope to acquaint a new generation with a love for the rich literature and body of work associated with efforts to restore New Testament Christianity.  For more advanced students of church history, I promise to challenge thinking about the nature of social movements with questions to answer, research to conduct, and applications to try.
