Going into an interview, you should be asking yourself, “What skills is this employer looking for?” Some skills will depend on the company, job and its description. However, there are some skills that every employer will be looking for. Knowing what these skills are in advance could help you better prepare for the interview and the actual job when the time comes. The qualities every employer will be looking for include the ability to verbally communicate with persons inside and outside the organization, the ability to work in a team structure, the ability to make decisions and solve problems and the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work. More skills may involve the ability to obtain and process information, the ability to analyze quantitative data, technical knowledge related to the job, proficiency with computer software programs, the ability to create and/or edit written reports and the ability to sell or influence others. All of these qualities could be beneficial towards any career that you’re trying to obtain.
