Bridge Ceremony Celebrates Students

November 12, 2018

The School of Business Bridge Ceremony recognized approximately 100 students who had been granted permission to enroll in upper-level ACCT and BSAD courses.  The November 5, 2018, ceremony featured an alumna speaker, Maria O’Brien.  O’Brien is a 2003 Truman graduate with a BS degree in Business Administration – Marketing.  During her remarks, O’Brien stressed the value of making personal connections, knowing your strengths, and putting in the work to land your first job.

The student speaker was Nicolas Poindexter, a senior Accounting and Business Administration – finance major.  Poindexter encouraged students to look out for one another, seek out opportunities to learn, and take care of themselves.  He also led the students in reciting the School’s Code of Ethics.  Poindexter will begin work with the Boeing Company in Seattle following graduation.

The students were individually recognized by Dr. Trevor Shonhiwa, Assistant Professor of Accounting.  To better equip students for interviews, each student received a padfolio embossed with the School of Business logo.  Students networked with their peers and faculty during a reception following the ceremony.
