Bullock Awarded PCAOB Scholarship

Bullock Awarded PCAOB Scholarship

July 31, 2018

Abigail (Abby) Bullock, a Master of Accountancy student, has been awarded the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Scholarship.  Abby will be awarded $10,000 to cover eligible expenses for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment while enrolled at Truman.  The award is merit-based.  Abby was selected based on her demonstrated interest and aptitude in accounting and auditing.  Additionally, Abby’s award was based on her adherence to high ethical standards while a student.

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 provides that funds generated from the collection of monetary penalties imposed by the PCAOB must be used to fund a merit scholarship program for students in accredited accounting programs.  Using its authority from Congress, the PCAOB established a scholarship program to provide a source of funding to encourage outstanding undergraduate and graduate students to pursue careers in auditing.
