Dr. Glenn Wehner is one of the most colorful members of the Agriculture Department at Truman State University. In addition to being Truman’s Sigma Alpha advisor from its founding in 1991, he has also been involved with Alpha Gamma Rho, Cattle Team, the Missouri Livestock Symposium, as well as countless other activities, all geared at developing and improving agricultural science students at Truman along with youth in the Kirksville community.

On October 18^th, 2010, the Omicron Chapter of Sigma Alpha honored their advisor by presenting him with the National Sigma Alpha Advisor of the Year Award. In the chapter’s mind, there is no other advisor as deserving of this as Dr. Wehner. In addition to being the chapter advisor for the past 19 years, he has been a rock of support and encouragement for all members. His endless wisdom and guidance has helped develop the Omicron Chapter into the healthy and dynamic chapter it is today. His advice has helped the chapter in establishing their annual Corn Maze, an alumni chapter, and numerous sisterhood, social, and professional events. Dr. Wehner frequently attends weekly chapter meetings along with all other possible events.

Former Truman student and Sigma Alpha-Omicron alumna Marie Zumalt says of Dr. Wehner: “Dr. Wehner is very passionate about the ideals of Sigma Alpha and the type of women it promotes. He never stops expressing his support for the organization and the true advantage it provides to women in agriculture.” For those within the Truman community, the thought of Dr. Wehner as an advisor of the year is easy to visualize; his level of commitment and passion to the numerous clubs and organizations he supports is phenomenal. For those outside the Truman community to recognize his commitment and passion proves once again that the Truman environment is something not to be taken for granted.
